Substitutes for 59 Chinese Apps Banned in India

We all know that The Indian Govt. has banned 59 Chinese apps as a matter of security. These apps were charged to "stealing and secretly transmitting users' data in an unauthorized manner".
Most of those apps were useless but at the same time, we had a few useful apps as well. Here I am going to discuss those apps which we can use in place of the banned ones.

1. TikTok (Likee, Viva Video, Vigo Video, Vmate, Uvideo, Kwai) =>


TikTok was quite a famous Short Video Creating app. Although it was also the most criticized app in India. Still, it's users loved the UI and features of this app. The apps that you can use in place of TikTok are :- 
  1. Dubsmash(German) - This app was quite popular before TikTok(musical.ly). But then it lost its fame soon. It was a great app and provides a similar experience as that of TikTok. 
  2. Roposo(Indian) - An Indian video app that can be used in all Indian Native languages. It has over 5M+ downloads on Playstore.
  3. LitLot(Indian) - This a very new app on the Playstore and has exactly the same UI as TikTok. The Reviews and Ratings are quite appreciable.
  4. Mitron(Indian) - After the ban of TikTok, this app has gained thousands of users overnight. 

2. Shareit(Xender, ES File Explorer) =>


These were the best File Sharing apps we had. If we ever thought of fast file/video/images/apps sharing between two devices. The first thing to come into our mind was Shareit. Om the other hand, ES File Explorer was also very good file explorer and I was personally using it since last 5  years.Apps to be used as a substitute :- 

  1. Files By Google - Google's very own File app which can be used as a file manager, junk cleaner, file sharing app. It is the best according to me.
  2. SendAnywhere - As the name suggests, you could send any file type anywhere. You just need a one-time 6-digit key for an easy file transfer. No need for Wifi or internet connection. You could also share files to multi-people at once via a link.
  3. Zapya -  This could also be a good alternative for Shareit. The only problem is that it contains ads. Other than that it provides a cleaner user interface, It is a multi-platform app and also supports 20 languages.
  4. Jio Switch - Owned by Reliance, Jio Switch is also in the list of Shareit alternatives. In fact many people used this in place of Shareit earlier. This has no ads and has got good User Reviews on Playstore.

3.  CamScanner =>


The students can understand the pain of losing CamScanner. This app gave us the best scanning quality by using different filters. Then we could create PDFs or send them as images. Some older versions could even compress the PDF. I would really miss this app and personally, I don't think it can have an alternative. Anyways, now that we require one, let's see what can help us out.
  1. Adobe Scan - This would give you a very much similar interface as CamScanner. This is the best possible alternative I found. 
  2. MS Office Lens - Not that perfect but still useful to some extent. Altogether it can be a good choice for some people.
  3. Top Scanner - The color scheme used in this app is exactly the same as CamScanner. You can call it a clone as well. Honestly, I haven't used it so I can't judge it.

4. UC Browser(CM, APUS, DU) =>



These Browsers being banned is not a big issue. We have hundreds of other browsers and everyone is aware of them. As it is no one really used these except UC Browser. 
  1. Google Chrome - The browser that all Android-powered smartphones get by default. This doesn't require any briefings. It is the most commonly used browser.
  2. Mozilla Firefox -  The good old Firefox is also an option in case you don't like Chrome for some reason. 
  3. Opera Browser - A fast and safe web browser. Even this one is quite popular so no explanations required. The best feature is that it has an inbuilt VPN so that you can ensure proper privacy.

5. THE DU Package =>


  • DU battery saver
  • DU Recorder
  • DU Cleaner
  • DU Privacy
These apps are not at all useful. 
  • You don't need an external battery saver to save your phone's battery. Just follow a few tips to get better battery performance.
  • Most of the latest smartphones come with built-in screen recorders. In case your phone doesn't have, you can download any screen recorder from Playstore. Most of them function in the same way.
  • Even such cleaner apps are not required.(including Clean Master – Cheetah Mobile, Virus Cleaner ) They make your phone slower. All smartphones have some features for cleaning junk/useless files. They are enough for this purpose.

6. HAGO =>

Hago was a playing platform where you could play with people from all over the world, make friends, and win money(for which most people used it).

  1. House Party - It is a very good alternative for HAGO. It hs good reviews on the Playstore.
  2. Hello Play - Next on the list is Hello Play which is an Indian App. It's quite similar to HAGO.

7. Newsdog(UC News, QQ Newsfeed) =>


These news apps were not that useful. Still, if some people were using them, here are some better alternatives :-
  1. Dailyhunt(Indian) - Personally my favorite. You get this pre-installed on many devices. Support almost all Indian Native languages. View news from different news channels. Live news is also available. Along with that, you get the Daily Horoscopes which are quite accurate according to my experience. Also, the app gives you the latest news updates through push notifications so you are always up-to-date. Altogether this is the best News app. 
  2. Newspoint(Indian) - Again a very good sorted news app. Provides you with the latest Local news, live TV, Viral videos and photos, and the truth behind them. 
  3. Inshots - The app that gives you a 60-word news summary instead of those long news articles that other apps may show. Google stated in 2015 that INSHOTS is the best app. If you need complete news of the day in short, either in the morning before going to work or at the night after coming back home. This is the best competitor of Dailyhunt.

8. Club Factory, ROMWE, Shein =>


These are all shopping apps amongst which Club Factory was a quite famous one. But most of the products it delivered were not of good quality, rather they were all local. Secondly, Shein was popular among girls.
Now giving alternatives for shopping apps is not required.
  1. Amazon
  2. Flipkart
  3. Myntra
  4. Limeroad
  5. Snapdeal
These are the most famous and trusted shopping platforms, I would always suggest you for Amazon.

9. Parallel Space =>


This was a popular app that lets you create a clone of the existing app. You could create two Whatsapps, Instagrams, Facebooks, and any other apps.
  • DO Multiple Accounts - This was always way better than parallel space. Unlike parallel space, you can make unlimited clones of a single app.

10. Mi Video Call - Xiaomi =>


I guess this app was used only by the people who own Xiaomi mobiles. There are many alternatives for a video call app because nowadays all the social media apps have this feature. 
Anyways if you want a dedicated Video Call app, you may use Google Duo.

11. Beauty Plus (Selfie City, YouCam Makeup, Sweet Selfie, Wonder Camera, Photo Wonder, Meitu)


These apps might have been the favorite apps for girls 😂 (Just Joking). Anyways there are many apps better than these.
  1. B612 - I would personally recommend this one. It has almost all of the features required in a Camera App and even I have used it a lot. B612 always brings new features with the latest updates and would never disappoint its users.
  2. Snapchat - Had been in controversy for some time due to the words of its CEO but we can't deny that it gives you the best possible filters and effects. It's an amazing app. If you have never tried it, just go ahead and install it.
  3. Retrica - This one is also a very popular app. And a good alternative for the banned apps.
  4. Candy Camera - Something very similar to Sweet Selfie. 

12. The QQ Package =>


  • QQ Mail
  • QQ Music
  • QQ Player
  • QQ International 
  • QQ Security
  • QQ Launcher
Again a bunch of useless apps. None of these were actually required by us and I guess majority Indians didn't use them. We have better apps for all the services that these apps gave. Still, if someone required alternatives for any of these, I'll list them down below.
  1. Mailing - Gmail, Outlook
  2. Music Streaming - Wynk, Spotify, Resso(Chinese but not banned yet)
  3. Video Player - MX Player, VLC
  4. Launchers - Nova Launcher, Microsoft Launcher

13. Clash of Kings, Mobile Legends =>


These were one of the best Strategy Games available. But they were not the only ones. Now people who have lost there saved game data might be quite sad. But you can switch to some other game and give it a new start. Don't be disheartened for that because you are not the only one to lose the data, there were thousands of Indians playing these games. You can try some of these as an alternative :-
